UMD Transportation

The UMD Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) provides a full range of parking and transportation services to a diverse community of more than 50,000 students, faculty and staff in the City of College Park.

Shuttle-UM

  • Transit is the official app of Shuttle-UM. NextBus is no longer operational. Transit will provide real-time arrival information for Shuttle-UM routes.
  • Complimentary Shuttle-UM bus passes are available to City of College Park residents. Passes may be obtained from City Hall, Davis Hall and Youth and Family Services. 

Parking

  • If you plan to park on campus regularly, we recommend you purchase a parking permit to guarantee space. However, many campus lots are unrestricted after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends. These lots are highlighted in green on our campus map.

Sustainable Transportation

  • Transit, carpool (rideshare), biking, e-scooters, walking, teleworking and Zipcar (carshare) are all sustainable modes of transportation.

Public Transportation

BikeUMD & E-Scooters

  • Read the biking regulations and e-scooter regulations, which include critical information regarding safety and parking.
  • Register your bike or e-scooter through the Bike Index.
  • Pick up your registration sticker from the DOTS lobby Regents Drive Garage or the RecWell Bike Shop in the Cole Student Activities Building. Please have your registration verification email ready to show in order to expedite receiving the sticker.
